The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) launched the Sports Legacy Scheme (SLS) in 2012 and became a charitable institution under the section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance of Hong Kong. SLS arranges for participating professional athletes who are planning to retire or retired to provide sports training to under-privileged students, spreading the positive values of sports and the Olympism spirit. Meanwhile, the SLS always thrives on the support of the public and private sectors.
During the Homecoming Celebration for Hong Kong Athletes participated in various sports games held on today at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL), HKDL announced a HK$250,000 sponsorship to SLS to launch a collaboration scheme to provide tailor-made professional sports training services to the children and youth from a local NGO, the Boys’ & Girls’ Club Association (BGCA). Through this collaboration scheme, an estimated 200 children and youth in Hong Kong will benefit from the 200-hour professional and diverse sports training, such as cycling, skateboarding and table tennis. The details of the sponsored programme will be announced later. SF&OC would like to take this opportunity to express its heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the HKDL for supporting the work of the SLS in sports promotion and athlete development.
