Jockey Club “Flying High” Sports Programme The 4th Inter-school Fitness Challenge Competition

Students Embrace the Challenge and the Spirit of the Olympics

Organised by the Sports Legacy Company Limited (SLCL) of Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (the Trust), the Jockey Club “Flying High” Sports Programme today (29 June 2024) launched the annual event, 4th Inter-school Fitness Challenge Competition, in the gymnasium of its venue partner, Hong Kong Chu Hai College. Over 320 students from 24 secondary schools demonstrated the values of Olympism, excellence, friendship and respect while competing in 10 fitness exercise for time. The outstanding Kowloon True Light School, S.K.H. Li Ping Secondary School, Wong Shiu Chi Secondary School and Concordia Lutheran School crowned the overall champion, 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up and 3rd runner-up respectively.

Mr. Timothy FOK, President of SF&OC; Prof. Herman HU, Chairman of Hong Kong Athletes Career & Education Department (HKACED) Committee; Mr. WONG Po Kee and Ms. Fay K. F. HO, Honorary Deputy Secretary General of SF&OC; Mr. WONG Tak Sum, Sam, Commissioner for Sports of Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau (CSTB); and Prof. Robert LI, Associate Vice President (Academic) of Hong Kong Chu Hai College, officiated the opening ceremony in the presence of Legislative Council members, Hon Joephy CHAN Wing-yan and Hon Benson LUK Hon-man, HKACED committee members, mentors of “Star to Shine” Mentorship Programme, representatives of the participating schools and the SLCL’s coaches.

Mr. FOK said, “Other than bringing Olympic values to schools, we hereby invite everyone to enjoy the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and support the participation of Hong Kong, China Delegation in the Games as the team has qualified for more than 30 events and the government has purchased the broadcast right.”

Prof. HU said, “The SLCL has been bringing Olympic values to schools. It is encouraging to witness the positive impact of our effort through Jockey Club ‘Flying High’ Sports Programme. In the competition, the students pushed their limit with the support of their peers, demonstrating the values of the Olympic motto, Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together.”
