Jockey Club “Flying High” Sports Programme
Jockey Club “Flying High” Sports Programme – Olympic Journey, a 3-year programme, was launched in September 2021 with the donation of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The programme, which will be implemented in 90 secondary schools, aims to promote Olympic values through sports-related games, identify students’ sports talent and improve their understanding of the sports industry and encourage them to join the industry through sports career talk.

- To provide opportunities for the students to explore students’ interest in sports and identify their athletic potential.
- To help develop their exercise habit.
- To promote the three values of Olympism.
- To promote schools’ sports development
- To provide career opportunities and training for the retiring or retired athletes, to pass on their expertise.
Physical Fitness Test
Students will exercise through ten tests, including:
- Plank (core strength)
- Single-leg stance with eyes closed (balance)
- Standing long jump (lower body power)
- T test (Agility)
- 1-min squat thrust (full body strength)
- Handgrip (forearm strength)
- 9-min run (cardiorespiratory endurance)
- Pushup (upper body strength)
- 1-min situp (abdominal strength)
- Sit and reach (Posterior chain flexibility)
To evaluate their fitness level and match the sports according to their fitness level.
Olympic Educational Game
Through this game-based activity, we encourage students to participate in sports, enhance their fitness and interest in sports, educate them the values of Olympism and promote students’ physical and mental development.
We also offer the trial for multiple sports to each school, such as football, Muay thai and sports climbing, so the students can have a taste of different sports, and explore their interest and potential in sports.
Sports Career-oriented Activities
The beneficiary schools could either choose the career-oriented fitness training to help students to be physically prepared or sports career talk to enhance students’ understanding about the industry, such as its structure and jobs.
Physical Fitness Training and Fitness Challenge Trial
Physical Fitness Training and Fitness Challenge trial will be provided to educate the proper way to perform different fitness exercises, follow a training programme to improve their fitness, and prepare for the Fitness Challenge Competition.
Briefing and Athlete Sharing
The coaches will provide briefing and sharing sessions to introduce the programme and share their athlete careers with the schools.
Each school will receive one of the following forms of training: football, basketball, fencing, athletics, archery, rowing and Muay Thai, etc. Students can learn related knowledge, skills, and experience through systematic training from the coaches and they were encouraged to take part in external competition.
Olympic Sports Exhibition
The exhibition panels with information about Olympic Sports and related items, such as Hong Kong football team jersey and Olympic Torch and souvenirs, will be delivered to schools to promote the Olympic sports knowledge and arouse students’ interests in sports.
Inter-school Fitness Challenge Competition
Fitness Challenge Competition incorporated ten fitness exercises that challenge students’ fitness level. They will be required to complete the exercises with proper form and in right sequences in the shortest amount of time. The exercises include:

- Alternating Arm Raise
- Plank to Push-up
- Single-leg Lateral Hop
- Mountain Climber
- Squat Thrust
