In a bid to connect sports and art, the Hong Kong Olympic Fans Club (HKOFC) of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) held the “Olympic Dreams” Charity Auction alongside Sotheby’s and HomeArt on 22 December 2021. The collaborative charity auction was inspired by the success of the Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Proceeds from the auction will support the mission of the SF&OC Sports Legacy Company Limited (SLCL), which promotes sports among local underprivileged students and supports the development of retired and planning to retire athletes.

The collaborative charity auction offers various art pieces donated by artists, collectors and galleries, including a series of paintings on Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games by Peter McDonald, and artworks by Damian Hirst, Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Zeng Fanzhi, Simon Birch, Mak Ying Tung and Cheung Tsz Hin. Sports memorabilia from the Mainland and Hong Kong Olympians, including the Chinese Olympic diving team, and local Olympic fencers Cheung Ka-Long and Vivian Kong Man-Wai, cyclist Sarah Lee Wai-sze, and table tennis players Doo Hoi-kem, Minnie Soo Wai-yam and Lee Ho-ching, are also featured.

Kenneth Fok, JP, Chairman of Hong Kong Olympic Fans Club, states, “The lots offered at this auction include original artworks donated by artists and sports memorabilia, artworks, and pictures donated by athletes, with each respective lot holding special meaning and value. We hope that everyone will take this opportunity to learn about the experiences and stories behind these objects and feel the Olympic spirit. I would very much like to thank Sotheby’s, the artists, the athletic associations, the coaches, and the athletes for their generous support of this philanthropic project.”
